Blossom Trust welcomes volunteers from all walks of life to assist us in our projects. Check out some of the ways you can get involved.
Instead of charging for food and accommodation, we ask that volunteers select a project to fund and take ownership of. Projects may be chosen according to length of stay and individual interests. Our staff will guide project implementation, but we are looking for volunteers who can work without a lot of oversight and micromanagement.
You can also help with the children in the home before and after school. Help the kids by teaching English, computer classes, or any other skill or craft you know that could benefit the kids.
Work directly with the crops and help the farmers by planting, nurturing, or picking vegetables depending on the season. There is also plenty of general maintenance of the farm for those who don’t mind getting their hands dirty.
You can read more here about the kinds of projects volunteers can partake in.
Volunteers will have a room either at the children’s home in Chittor or in town at the office in Virudhunagar. There are regular buses between Chittor and Virudhunagar for Rs. 6. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served at both locations (Dayspring and the office in Virudhunagar) and will be provided for volunteers. Meals mainly consist of rice, dosa, or idly and a curry. For more variety, additional food options are available in Virudhunagar (meals are between Rs. 20-100, depending on the type of vendor).
Accommodation includes showers, western toilets, free wifi, and English speaking staff support at all times.
