Conceived in 2007, Buds Network brought together children living with HIV to build a care and support network.

As a part of the Palmyrah Workers Development Society (PWDS) Alliance Care and Support Project, Buds works to reduce the stigma attached to HIV and offer supplementary education. Over time, Buds became a network of children’s clubs and education centres for all disadvantaged children in the community.

Buds Network focuses on academic and physical education, as well as life skill development. Along with motivating the children academically, the programme counsels parents and teachers to ensure that the children’s education is a top priority.

At its largest there were 11 centres running but have since dwindled to two due to a shortage of funding.
